Faster transfer via USB cable?

I thought I saw a note/comment somewhere about being able to connect the Pocket device to my iPhone via a USB cable for the fastest transfer.

Is that a thing?

What we support for USB transfer is Web Sync over USB-C to a computer, not a direct Pocket → iPhone USB cable transfer for faster sync.

How it works:

  1. In the Pocket app on your phone, go to Settings, search for “Pocket Web Sync” or “USB Mode”, and turn it ON (if it’s already on, toggle it off and back on).

  2. Use a data-capable USB-C cable (the braided one in the box is recommended; charge-only cables won’t work).

  3. Connect Pocket to your computer via USB-C.

  4. On the computer, open https://app.heypocket.com in Chrome, Edge, or Brave (Safari and Firefox don’t support the USB file access Pocket needs).

  5. Click “Connect Pocket Drive” and select the POCKET drive when prompted so the recording can transfer to the computer.

Also keep Bluetooth on, Pocket connected to the phone, and the Pocket app open on the phone while you connect to the computer.

A phone is still required for setup/management; this path is for retrieving/transferring via computer when you need that USB workflow (including stuck/inaccessible recordings after normal sync).

If you were aiming specifically at iPhone-only USB and not computer Web Sync, that isn’t covered in our current guidance—share what you’re trying to speed up (normal app sync, a stuck file, etc.) and we can point you to the right steps.

I read the post about not being able to download from the Pocket device to an iPhone via a USB cord, and that it only works with a computer, but is it possible to download it on an Android phone that is put in “desktop site” mode?

USB and WebSync is currently only available on the desktop and the WebApp
