# How do I use Pocket without my iPhone?

I’d like to know how I can record conversations or meetings without having my phone in the meeting

That’s the point of the device. You do NOT need your phone. You only need a device with the App when you want to sync up so you can visually see your recordings.
I sync at the end of the day typically, but I’ve also gone about 4 or 5 days too.
Turn on Pocket to get Blue light, press again for the hazel/yellow light shows you’re recording, press again back to Blue when done recording. Repeat over and over. Each time being a separate summary/recording.
Sync up to your iPhone or other device with Pocket app when convenient.

I started a recording from the phone (pocket app) and then separated the two (phone and deice) and the meeting wasn’t recorded - was I suppose to start the recording from the device alone?

Hi Barn! If you’re leaving your phone behind, start the recording directly on the Pocket device: press the side button once and confirm the light turns solid amber. Press it again when the meeting ends. Your phone doesn’t need to stay nearby; open the app afterward to sync the recording.
You can also start from the app while Pocket is connected, but make sure the device turns solid amber before separating them. If it was amber and the recording still didn’t appear after syncing, please contact support so we can check what happened.
