# On device only recordings - no AI summary

I work in the financial services sector doing cybersecurity. I have conversations that must remain private. I’m looking for settings that we’ll let me use the device purely to record audio and not upload or process it at all. I want to just connect to the device either Bluetooth or USB and pull the mp3 for me to process on my local LLM.

I see ways to do that but they don’t match the app now. The whole section for privacy settings appears to no longer be in settings.

Hi Phrogg, Pocket doesn’t currently have a single “local-only audio” mode. Privacy Mode isn’t the right fit here because it saves only a live transcript and does not retain the audio.

The closest workflow is:

1. Open Settings → Data & Sync
2. Turn off Auto Import from Pocket
3. Turn on Web Sync / USB Mode
4. Connect Pocket to your computer with a USB-C data cable
5. Open the POCKET drive and copy the MP3 from the RECORD folder directly to your computer

Don’t click “Sync Memories” in Pocket Web or the desktop app, since that imports the recording into Pocket’s cloud workflow. Bluetooth doesn’t currently support a raw local MP3 transfer.

Also, turning off Auto Summarize stops AI processing but does not stop the audio upload itself.
