Huge props to the Pocket team—brand-new feature board! Thanks for opening the door to requests!
What I’m asking for (plain English):
Ask one question and have Pocket search everything I’ve captured (all recordings/notes), then answer with where it found it (recording title + timestamp). I shouldn’t have to remember when I said something—Pocket should.
Everyday examples:
“What did I say about Ella’s birthday gifts last month?”
“Summarize all mentions of Project Skylark since September and list open tasks.”
“When did I agree to send the Q3 report, and what date did I say?”
How we’ll know it’s done (acceptance criteria):
Global scope — “Ask Pocket” searches my entire workspace (all recordings, notes, uploads).
Source-aware answers — Replies include recording name + timestamp link so I can jump straight there.
Time filters — Natural language like “last week,” “between Aug 10–20,” “this quarter.”
Privacy controls — A simple exclude toggle for specific recordings/folders.
Why this matters:
This delivers the actual second-brain promise—Pocket connects the dots and answers questions across time, without me scrolling through dates.
I think this is a great suggestion, and I upvoted it on the feature request page. I think you explained it beautifully.
I use a service called Read.ai that monitors my work email and generates reports, suggestions, actions and a bunch of other things. But, my favorite thing to do is to just ask it a question, e.g., who was the person I worked with on that project at xx university last month? Or did Jackie ever sign that form I sent to her? It searches all of my emails and comes back with an answer, along with links to the specific emails.
I actually can’t believe this isn’t already a feature at launch. To me, this is probably the most useful feature of a device like this. It feels super limiting to only be able to ask questions about a single conversation at a time. My memory is awful, I was hoping to use this as a way to search my long term memory. I come from using a Bee where this is default, and such a killer feature.
I wholeheartedly agree with you. The entire reason I bought the Pocket was for this. All their marketing and posts and website stuff lead me to beleive this is how it worked. As soon as I found out it wasn’t, I was all about making this my first and formost feature request.
Thanks for the kind words!! I always second guess myself when things like that are super “public”. Glad I was clear to other people!!
That tool sounds super useful for you!! I don’t have the same use case but I could see how that would be helpful! Hopefgully this helps out somebody looking for a email tool like this.
We don’t have this feature yet I “thought" this is what Pocket was supposed to do. That’s why it’s the most requested feature. Cause we all thought it was
