Why a new app layout/format?

I haven’t used my pocket in a while…. Probably at least 2-3 weeks. Just end of the year, then vacations, then not a lot of “in person” meetings etc.

Anyway I used it a lot yesterday and I have app version 0.5.51 and… I gotta say. I liked the old look better. Now it’s just flat gray/white and all the menus are hidden behind the settings. I liked the ability to choose the actions at the top… and while I’m not a fan of getting white flash banged, it wasn’t too bad. Is there a way to “theme” the app back? Or am I alone in not liking the new layout?

There is more color and UI changes in the beta and they are asking for our thoughts on a few styles here now as well. Looking forward to the color highlights!

What menus are now hidden by settings that you want more accessible?

@silk Calendars (at the bottom right and move Settings to the 3 dot menu). I’ve suggested this a few times. Maybe create a poll for some of these things?

Thanks for the feedback. Right now, we’re trying to stay focused on being an amazing meeting recorder, not a full calendar app. I’m curious: what would having your calendar duplicated inside Pocket actually help you do better or faster than using your existing calendar app (a la Google Calendar or Notion Calendar)? We automatically prompt you to record meetings which I believe is the main use case

I concur. Having summaries linked to a meeting title in the calendar makes it so much easier to find summaries that need my immediate attention. Combined with the task list the summary generates makes this a true “business app”. Being able to start recording from the calendar was a gold star feature. Removing those features greatly reduces the business value of this app and device.

Yikes. So I can’t view the calendar to start a recording for a specific event, the recordings I start are not automatically correlated to events on my calendar based on the time (which would be hard to do anyway since I frequently have meetings that overlap), AND when I go to “Update Calendar Event Link” manually (once I figure out what meeting it was, since the title is manufactured and no longer the name of the meeting) my meetings aren’t even accurately pulled from my calendar for me to select the correct one. Y’all. Y’alllll.

We are working on instead of AI generating titles, if we have a linked calendar event we will use that name instead

Cool, but doesn’t really answer or solve the issue of no longer having direct access to calendar items like we did before
