Data Management - how exactly is my data used with LLMs and Stored?

If chat GPT or other AI LLMs are involved in the digesting of data I have a few questions:

  1. How is data stored on a technical level?

  2. How does Chat GPT use the data. I see this is supposed to be HIPPA compliant so I expect some level of isolation. But I would like to know exactly how much. I may be working with material non-public information at times and need to know exactly what the flow of information is from my device to the cloud to the LLM that analyses, to the storage of data.
