Tags vs Folders and when to use what (thoughts on real use cases)

I’m curious to see how other users are implementing Tags and Folders. For example, if finance is the overall category, and then there are subcategories within that consisting of entries encompassing those subcategories, which would each go into: Tags or Folders?

This is my personal device but I use it for both work and home hobbies/guild meetings. Here’s my breakdown:

Folder - “work”

Tags - underwriting, billing, website, fundraiser, membership

Because many of my meetings at work have an overlap, one meeting can have multiple tags and i don’t have to worry about which folder it needs to be in… They all go into “work”.

Then for my home folders:

Projects (tags: weaving, knitting, baskets, selling ideas, bath products, wool prep/dyeing);

Home Improvement (tags: bathroom, kitchen, garage, outdoors);

Guilds (tags: lace, basket, weaving);

Stream of thought (usually from my commute and goes right on to the To Do list)

Transcripts - i use this to upload audio files for interview podcasts so we can get a clean transcript for the website. Technically this folder should be under work… But i wanted them to be in their own spot.
