Ordered on the weekend, figured I would try the desktop app while I wait.
Sign in with Apple on desktop app doesn’t appear to work on Windows 11. Site loads, you sign in, it attempts to redirect and just goes right back to the sign in page and eventually the desktop app times out.
So signed in with email instead for now so I can at least test the app. Start a manual recording while doing a Teams test call, it picked up 2 coworkers across from me but did not pickup me talking at all or the automated voice on the Teams calls, so wasn’t using my bluetooth headset.
Looked in settings, no option to select the microphone to use. Started another recording, and the floating recording widget also had no option to select what microphone to use.
App seems very promising but it is lacking on very basic features. Hope this is sorted before my order ships and I hope the actual device doesn’t have as many bugs/issues. I understand this is a new product and issues are to be expected but based on reviews online, I chose Pocket over a popular competitor that apparently I can’t type the name of as it isn’t allowed, that in itself is a bit disturbing, so I hope I don’t regret that choice.
hey @hcdemon thanks for the feedback, the desktop app is still a very early beta so hiccups might be expected while you use it, adding in @chay to help out on above, you can select the microphone on the top pill which opens up when you start an recording
do let us know if you think anything is missing! always open to feedback!
I did however recheck my Windows device settings and my headset was only default for audio not communications, so I set it as the default for everything and tested again. This time the app seems to hear me with no issues but it is not recording anything from the other side of the call.
And if I end the recording, and try to start a new one, the widget just doesn’t appear at all now. I have to close Pocket from the system tray, re-open it and then I get the above again, rinse and repeat.
Audio wise though, it seems to be using my bluetooth mic now which is great but it still isn’t picking up the other side of the call or it gets a few words here and there but nothing accurate and even on the audio playback you can’t hear it to correct it.
I will wait for the next update. Happy to do additional testing before you push another update if needed.
Tested and the popup widget works now when I expand it, I have the 3 dot menu and can see microphone options.
Selected my headset, made a test call and it would seem that it picked up myself and the other side with no issues.
However it is still “summarizing” the call after 25 minutes for a 1 min 16 sec call, though I don’t believe this is an issue with the desktop app as restarting it doesn’t change it and the mobile app shows the same thing. All previous tests though were done summarizing within a minute or so.
Thanks for taking time and testing this out, that really means a lot, I will personally look into the summarizing issue on why this is specifically happening and get back to you
Really thanks for doing whatever you have done till now man
@chay any time, happy to test, I’m also a software developer, so I know testing is crucial and trying to find and fix all of the bugs is a monumental task sometimes.
Was finally able to do a test run in a real meeting, started a recording, no widget popup at all but app showed recording, so I continued with it
Meeting finished, I clicked stop and it ended up becoming stuck on Stopping. Had to force close the app. Re-opened, meeting gone, after a few minutes it detected and unsaved meeting and tried to upload it, which failed. I tried another quick test recording, same thing, stuck on Stopping.
