Any luck with longer lecture notes?

Hi all,

I’m a medical student and bought pocket to assist in lectures so I can keep my attention on the lectures being presented and not taking notes.

I’ve used my pocket in several lectures, and have been a bit disappointed when it comes to transcription and summary. I have used several AI systems and even the education summary, but it doesn’t flow the same way the lecture is presented, missed a LOT of topics covered in lecture. The software seems to really just want to give more study topics so I wanted to see if anyone had any settings that they found helpful.

Hopefully this is something that gets worked out, but thought I’d reach out. And I obviously know that it’s not going to replace note taking, but at least capture the key ideas being shared.

Thanks in advance

Hey @stackett82 would love to chat with you and look at where we can improve messaging you!

Sure thing. Shoot me a DM or if email is better - let me know

Curious when you go to regenerate and choose a different style (assuming you’re pro) do any of those help you? There are about 50 of them. Some of them sound like they would keep all the details to me especially “Detailed Format”

Yeah, I played around with it for a few days regenerating different types of summaries and comparing the outputs from the different GPT‘s. I found the Detailed Format with Claude 4.1 seems to be the best for me. There’s been a dramatic improvement since I received my device about three weeks ago, so I’m hoping that it continues to improve.

Also, one of the engineers reached out almost immediately, and it sounds like they are working on something for this, which is awesome.

I came here to suggest detailed format with Claude 4.1 opus. I’ve set that to my default.

There’s something about that combo that provides the type of depth that I need for longer meetings.

I too have summary set as detailed and Claude 4.1 Opus.

In another thread regarding summaries, details, and action items, I read that they weren’t getting action items from it.

I haven’t fully test drove this yet, so I’m asking this question without having tried it so mea culpa, but are you getting action items out of the detailed summary as well?

Yes I’m getting action items now.

It was working great yesterday, but today I went to regenerate my recordings, and it’s missing 85% of the information. I tried to restore to a previous version of the document, but it’s not restoring.

I also tried regenerating them back to detailed format, but still it’s missing most all of the details and information.

hey @stackett82 messaging you about this

are you trying to restore using the header history?

looks like a issue with claude’s response being nerfed. just a tip: if you are not happy with your summary using a better model and regenerating helps a lot

I have given lectures and use the transcript feature to view what I said. It works well.

Hey all - I’m finding Deep Summary with GPT-5 literally made me squeal out loud when it regenerated some of my meetings that are acutely technical with a lot of detail - all from a medical perspective.

Give it a try maybe?

has it been better than the lecture notes for you?

Detailed Study Notes or Detailed Notes are both amazing. Absolutely game changing. A friend has some generic AI voice recorder off Amazon that costs roughly the same, and Pocket is 100X better.

I found for longer or full-day recordings, it works best if I stop recording at the end of a topic and start again when the new topic starts. Makes headings more precise and the notes easier to work with. And now that the app can summarize across multiple notes, you can pull out an outline of the entire lecture.
