I cannot get WiFi sync to work.

I had it work once when I first received it, but I can’t get any more conversations to sync over WiFi.

It will sometimes start to sync, but then get stuck at 2-18% and then will fail. The WiFi network disappears and using the retry function doesn’t work. I have to cancel the syncing and go through the process again only to have it stall. Also sometimes my phone will tell me it is unable to join the Pocket network.

Troubleshooting steps I’ve taken:

  • Changed DNS per guide
  • Restarted app/Pocket/Phone
  • Turned off auto join on my home network and disabled cellular data

There’s a Wi-Fi setting that will disconnect a network that doesn’t have internet.

On android

disable “Switch to mobile data automatically” in Wi-Fi preferences if you want to stay on the local network, or manually switch to a different network by going to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi.

Basically android and iPhone doesn’t think we need a phone without internet. So when we go on WiFi without it the phone is “smart" and will auto switch the wifi radio to a stronger one with Internet or switch the mobile radio on for data when we connect to a WiFi without internet

Hey @Raleighwood,

You can try these troubleshooting steps if this doesn’t work out. You can email tech@heypocket.com we will look into it.

  1. Restart the app – Close it completely, then reopen it and try again.
  2. Stay close to the device – Keep your phone near the Pocket Wi-Fi for a stronger signal.
  3. Disable mobile hotspot – Turn off your hotspot if it’s currently active.
  4. Enable location services – The app may require this for Wi-Fi discovery.
  5. Turn off battery saver mode – This can prevent background processes from running properly.
  6. Keep the app open – Stay on the app screen for at least 30 seconds while it connects.
  7. Forget and reconnect to Pocket Wi-Fi – Go to Settings → Wi-Fi → Saved networks, select the network starting with “PKT,” tap Forget, then reconnect.
  8. Disable any VPN – Turn off VPN services before retrying.

I too am having problems connecting my pocket to Wi-Fi. The tips that you provided the OP did not work on my Android device nor solve the problem.

Same. I’ve run through all the troubleshooting. I’ve reinstalled the app, too. Pixel 7 Pro. All updates installed.
