MIND MAP Room/Discussion

I’d like to start a discussion about using the mind map feature… it appears that they are static, and so far my Pocket has very limited/no maps created from my recordings. I see that I can choose several options (as a Pro Subscriber) but choosing another option, like “Context Map” also doesn’t bring anything up after processing.

If anyone has ideas or best practices that you’ve figured out, or if someone from Pocket can put together a training on how to use the feature, that would be great.

I hope this thread can help us get the most from the MINDMAP feature.

I have mind maps generated, but their usefulness on my phone is very limited. I tried exporting one to Adobe, but the export did not contain the map, it only had node descriptions. Hopefully there will be a future update to make them more useful (wink wink).

Mind map to me is a useless feature but a nice sounding selling point. “A mind map wow sounds amazing!”

then I see it and I’m like, wow this is just useless but okay it exists.

I’m still trying to figure out if I will use the mind maps. I have a competing device that generates mind maps and I’ve never used them.

If someone does use them, can you let us know why and how as I’d like to learn more.

I agree. I don’t see any use for the current way they (don’t) work for me either.

LOL, I can’t argue with that… accurate!

I have been using the mind map to track how my conversations with direct reports go.

I’m sure it’s not how it was intended but it has helped me visualize how they think/process and how we get off track. There has been some interesting side conversations that they thought were related and I didn’t.

I’m currently trying to use it to learn to better keep some of the more structured conversations from going off the rails.

But no, it is not as easy to use as I had hoped.

My problem with the mind maps is that the print is very, very tiny. Even while wearing reading glasses, I have trouble. So I can’t truly evaluate them.

Exporting would be optimal. at least being able to view in landscape mode would help.

@megsaint There are a few different ways to export them. One way is that it exports a text link. When you open that link, the mind maps are there. Here’s a sample I made

You will also be able to see everything in the web app :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Thanks. I’ll check out both suggestions. My sense is that they will be something fun to look at a couple of times and then I’ll forget all about them. But maybe not.

yes – very small on a phone and not super useful. I do appreciate that it shows me my conversations are ALL OVER the place. Brought to you by ADHD.

The mind maps are useless. Too much space between elements and tiny text. I can’t read them in my iPhone. I’ve sent in suggestions but don’t know if they are being considered.

Have you looked at the suggestions that SM7 gave to me in this thread four days ago?

Also, have you reviewed the feature suggestions?

@mhirrrr I’d love to have the option in Settings to NOT create/show the mind map. I will probably never use it. This would be helpful to have the option for the web version so, if I wanted to, I could show it online. Thoughts?

I want the following a feature

  • convert mindmap as text outline.
  • Merge multiple recording to generate new mind map
  • Update mind map

It would be great if you could post this at feedback.heypocket.com so people can upvote
