Problem
Meeting detection currently works only on the desktop app. When I’m recording from my phone, which is the natural setup given Pocket is a phone-mounted device, I don’t get the automatic prompt to start capturing. That means I either remember to hit record manually or I miss the start of a meeting. The detection that already exists on desktop solves exactly this, it just isn’t on the surface where the device actually lives.
Proposed solution
Bring meeting detection to the iOS and Android apps. When a meeting is detected, whether from the calendar, a joined call, or audio cues, prompt me to start recording, or start it automatically based on a setting.
Behaviour
Match the desktop behaviour: detect the meeting, surface a prompt or notification, one tap to start recording. A user setting to choose between prompt-first and auto-start, and the ability to exclude specific calendars or meeting types.
Use cases
Back-to-back meetings where I’m moving between rooms with my phone, in-person sessions where the desktop app isn’t open, and any time the phone is the recorder rather than the laptop.
Why it matters
The phone is the primary form factor for Pocket. Detection that only runs on desktop covers the secondary case and misses the main one.
