Underwhelmed. A little buyers remorse

I am a bit underwhelmed by my experience. Transcription is spotty with accuracy and assigns multiple speakers to the convo when there’s only two. Cannot listen to the meeting without downloading the audio first to device. It’s just not very smart on the software side. But the hardware seems good enough.

I’m unconvinced that the pro is worth $20/mo when it’s so unreliable for transcribing with speaker tags.

am I alone in this?

Hey @smalldot I’m sorry you feel this way but just responding to some points here.

We use the best Transcription Models available and we are improving every single day. Given this is AI it can sometimes make mistakes and we are actively working on improving performance and accuracy.

As you can see in the community the team is working tirelessly every single day to make sure you experience improves.

To mitigate speaker mislabelling by AI etc. We have introduced deep transcription editing capabilities to make summary more accurate. We also take steps while generating initial summaries to make sure the quality is the best.

As always we would love to hear any feedback and would love to make sure you have the best experience possible

I pretty much never even look at the transcripts. I have had zero interest in reading the whole conversation and generally don’t care which speaker said what. The summary’s have been absolutely perfect in most cases for me and have been all I need. It’s always interesting to me how different people use the same product so differently, nothing wrong with that, just interesting. I do feel confident that things on this product will improve. Just since release they’ve made so many positive changes.

Like MrDigital, I almost never look at the transcripts. I’ve never listened to the audio. I’m not sure any device like this is necessarily the best option of what you want to do is listen to the audio.

My experience with one other similar device and with three different software systems is that determining the speakers is hard. None of them do it very well. They all seem to have a tendency to reverse the speakers if it’s just me and one other person.

But, if it doesn’t meet your needs, it doesn’t meet your needs and the fact that it meets mine is probably irrelevant.

Appreciate the responses. I’ve used the transcripts on F@thom as a fallback to check for specific things someone may have said in the past. But you’re right. Primarily I would be using the summaries probably 90% of the time without worrying about transcription.

My hope is to use Pocket for all my meetings including online ones and get rid of F@thom AI which also struggles with transcription but excels with summaries and action items. It does capture video and screens though. But I can get over that.

Very curious to see changes and improvements coming to…

  • Transcription and automatic speaker tagging
  • Summary delivery and interactions (can Pocket email me my summary automatically when finished so it’s easy to share?)
  • Software/hardware documentation and help articles.

I still need to test the calendar integration (what does that do or what is it for?)
I plan to test induction speaker usage to quietly provide hardware audio from online meetings

I am also curious what people think the comparison is between Pocket and Pl@ud. I have no opinion because i’ve never used Pl@ud but I know a few people who do. Why Pocket over Pl@ud for you all?

I am happy with my customer experience with Pocket (feedback portal, forums, packaging, product aesthetic design, support, delivery, early-bird) but have a ways to go before I can conclude my user experience (I just have not had time to test and pilot the use of this device in my work-life fully.)

I will say that with the majority of communications and marketing written shamelessly by ChatGPT it has been very inhuman brand for me until I’ve gotten responses and DMs from people.

Also why the heck are you blocking the mention of competitor platforms in this forum? That’s sketchy.

I also have the Pl@ud Note Pro. As the Pocket team adds more and more features to the app, I find I use it less. I think I like the Pocket hardware better, as it doesn’t seem as if it would be as easy to snap as a Pringles chip. I thought I would like the screen more than I did. But really, I think it’s more gimmick than anything else. The case is really nice and, given the thinness of the device, in my opinion, essential.

I don’t listen to the audio, so I can’t compare the two. Pl@ud does have a better picker for templates. But the transcriptions and summaries themselves aren’t noticiably different in quality.

Someday, Pocket may grow into a much larger company, and the founders will stop answering questions here. But for right now, the fact that they are so engaged makes all the difference.

This was really helpful. Thank you. So far I like the untethered recording and battery life. I do think in many ways that will make Pocket superior.

Smalldot, I’m right there with you! Probably not the same issues, but I’m so frustrated with this product. I thought my product was set up properly after sending customer service a message; however, now my minutes are limited, it tells me to upgrade, my “founding member” status is no longer connected, I can’t get anyone to respond to my emails. At this point, I’m ready to give up. Like I’m seriously frustrated to the point of tears. So yes, buyers remorse. This was supposed to make things easier and help me organize my thoughts…I’m more overwhelmed than ever.

Hey @SoulShine as mentioned in previous posts attaching the founding member status will be a fast fix.

Sometimes we are not able to connect the same because we don’t have the email in our records or Apple sign in to be used I have texted you for some details and I can help you sort this out

We are really sorry about the time it took for us to solve this. We are actively looking into why this happened. And making sure we will improve thanks!

Thanks SO much for the quick response! My device is back to running perfectly and I can’t wait to dig in and see what this tool can do to help me in my everyday setting. I know you guys are doing your best and I appreciate all the effort the team is putting in to take care of us!

Agree, it’s unreliable so I don’t trust it or use it.

I am feeling the same way overall. Kind of nice recorder but not sure what my usage of it wilL continue to be.

UPDATE:

I LOVE my Pocket now. Now that I’ve gotten more used to it I really like it and am not worried about the transcription and I’ve happily cancelled F@thom. I am using it more often and really like the summary features and interface.

But I do still want the following:

  • Automatic email of summary once generated
  • auto device shut-off if no speech detected after X minutes (I leave mine on accidentally after a meeting is over lol)
  • double press to record
  • click to listen to audio (no download req first)
  • extended action item features (email action items, copy action items, etc)
  • instant, passive web interface sync (what is going on with that)
  • user access sharing to team

Syncing has also been pretty wonky.

I really like the idea of an automatic email summary. The others you suggest are not things I feel I need.

You can suggest features here:

hey the web is immediately updated with data on the app do let us know if you are not seeing that. in terms of the other feature please do put them up on feedback.heypocket.com so we can prioritise accordingly thanks!
