I see it now. Thanks
Hey @SM7 ,
Could you try using a different USB-C cable? Some cables only support power and not data, so swapping it often fixes the issue.
@bharat lol, yes, of course I tried different cables. ALL of my cables are “sync-enabled” cables. My MacBook shows my iphone, but doesn’t show the Pocket. I’m puzzled on this one…
DMing you to get more details
Thank you for this, WiFi sync has been completely non-functional now for me for days, and bluetooth is super super slow. Now lets figure out how to get WiFi firmware upgraded, still on original v3.
Also - I have tested this twice - Pocket will not record if connected to my PC - is that by design?
Hey @Sassa yep currently you can’t record or do any other operations on the device when connected via usb!
Phone/Tablet Cable Uploading Option
You recently provided a solution to attach the pocket device to computer and upload via cable which worked perfectly and was FAST.
Mobile Devices: I’d love to just take my USB-C cable, plug into my iPhone and Pocket and then have a “Cable Sync” option build directly into the app.
Tablet Devices: Allow the use to upload via cable in Browser on tablets the same way they can on computers. I use my iPad about 90% of the time instead of my computer and would like to have the option to sync via cable the same way. This would be a temporary solution until you create a tablet app, then you can move the cable syn option within the app the same way to the Mobile Device suggestion above ![]()
If you agree, go upvote please: Phone/Tablet Cable Uploading Option
I just tried this. I can see the RECORD folder on my iPhone. I as able to upload an audio file from my iPhone to my Pocket. Is this what you’re after?
Hey was wanting to upload from my pocket to the Internet via cable on my phone. Same concept when you plug up to computer and then upload via the Web App.
Yes, this does work. Once you upload from a Pocket to iPhone, the Pocket app will sync to the web so you can almost immediately see your recording on the web. Interestingly, when I viewed the web version, the summary, etc had already completed!
Right now in order to sync from pocket to phone you have to do it through WiFi or Bluetooth connection. I’m asking for an option to sync from pocket to phone through cable as well. So take your pocket device, connect it via cord directly to your phone (not computer) and have option to sync that way.
Ahh, now I understand hehe. Yes, this is great idea! Thanks for your patience and for explaining ![]()
Sorry to be cynical here, but I didn’t buy this with the expectation that I would need to plug it into my computer to get consistent and seamless syncs. I’m a bit concerned with the product roadmap thought process here. This ADDS friction to the user experience rather than improve on it. The conversations should be syncing without user intervention, seamlessly thru the app.. I get that this solves some current issues but how is this an applauded feature? I can’t remember the last time I physically connected devices to transfer data.
hey @dave you still can upload audio from the app. we are doing work to do auto sync but the problem is apple/android both don’t let an app run in the background for long. I understand this is a technical issue but we are actively working to figure out ways to make sure the process is as seamless as possible
this is a bad take lol. I bought a hardware device with the hopes of more ownership over my data. USB-C sync was the first and a massive step towards user data ownership
Sure that’s fine. To me this feels like I’m being gaslit. Of course a physically wired data transfer is “faster, smoother and more reliable”… why wouldn’t it be? You think a hard wired data transfer is a massive step forward for a piece of tech? The goal isn’t for users to glaze the founders.
I understand the product is new and it will keep improving, but even the response to my post shows that this is more of a stop gap while they continue to work on a more seamless option, a wired data transfer is just a basic feature that few will use. I’m not criticizing data ownership, my feedback is regarding the UX of syncing the recordings.
Gaslit is a strong word for what you’re pointing out. I haven’t seen anywhere where the Pocket team is trying to hide or gloss over something, and goodness knows no one is trying to glaze the owners.
Nowhere has Pocket said it’s a massive step towards anything (but a number of users like it and wanted it) - some folks WANT to connect their device to something, others don’t. I like having the choice but do prefer cord free long term.
Some want auto-synce, some want to manually sync, some want to set a timeframe for an auto-sync to occur - see where I am going here? And more than likely settings will be implemented to enable more user-defined parameters. It’s what I’m observing at least.
The usb-sync was a quick win for those who want to hard connect to sync, and an intermediary step for those who are having problems syncing (wifi/bluetooth, apple/android), while Pocket iteratively tweaks on the fly. I personally haven’t experienced massive delays or much wonkiness, and much as worked itself out.
I’m always surprised by the mentality of users who join a kickstart, and as it rolls to market, are demanding a perfect tried and true device. I’m not saying this is you by any means - but it is rare to encounter a tech team this responsive, inquisitive, and willing to build function to demand in parallel to the dev roadmap.
