Apparently updating to Firmware 0.8 and wi-fi v5 solves this problem from what a few other people have posted. I’m on iPhone and no issues, thankfully
Unfortunately, my pocket app is telling me that firmware 0.7 and WiFi v4 is the latest. I would love to get firmware 0.8 and WiFi v4 pushed out to me!
Agree…it doesn’t work most of the time. We have good wifi and Internet
This is a known issue and they’re working on it.
Are we able to sync via the USB-c port?
Not yet. Upvote here: Transfer files to pc/mac via usb cable (cable is currently only for charging)
yes, same issue here! WiFi or Bluetooth are not reliable. I must keep the screen from shutting down and look at the syncing otherwise it will stop. also, it only syncs one file at a time, once completed on that one audio file, I have to click on sync again to start on the next one.
Hey everyone,
Yes, Bluetooth isn’t super fast, but it is reliable. Wi-Fi definitely needs improvement, and that’s exactly what we’re working on now. The latest version of the Android app already includes fixes and improvements for Wi-Fi syncing.
- If you’re using Android - please make sure you’ve updated to the latest version.
- If you’re on iPhone - please follow this guide; it usually works for most users. And if you’d like step-by-step help, just email us at hey@heypocket.com - we’ll be happy to walk you through it.
Regarding the need to keep the screen on during syncing - we know it’s not ideal. We’re already working on enabling Wi-Fi syncing in the background, so you won’t have to keep the screen active in the future.
Thanks to your feedback and collaboration, we can keep making Pocket better and better. We truly appreciate your patience, trust, and support — and we’re sorry for the parts that still need improvement. I promise we’re working as hard as we can to fix them and make sure you have the best AI voice recorder in your hands.
Thank you,
Gabriel

It’s gotta be this new fangled WiFi settings everybody has on be default. There’s a feature of Android and iPhone that if the Wi-Fi doesn’t have internet it’ll disconnect and attempt either cell or another Wi-Fi to get internet. Since nobody disabled that it’s probably “that" causing a bulk of issues. Since they (Android and Apple) don’t allow apps to change those settings there may be some manual tweaks to make things work better.
Hey team, I was searching “VPN” to see if a topic was already created, and there are a few. I will let this reply simmer a couple days and I may just create a new post on the matter.
I prefer to use an on-device VPN to keep my true IP address masked which also does not reveal my physical location. But with that said, I have a couple questions.
- How does Pocket know I have a VPN enabled?
- Is there a way to mitigate the blocked sync because a VPN is enabled?
Hey @username_pending,
We totally understand your concern around privacy, that is important.
-
Pocket uses your phone’s system API to detect whether a VPN connection is active.
-
Unfortunately, we’ve found that VPNs can interfere with Wi-Fi sync, so the app blocks syncing while one is enabled.
We’re exploring ways to make this smoother in future updates.
