WiFi syncing is unusable and still a mess

I’ve been holding back from posting this but since we haven’t seen a WiFi firmware update since v6 in mid-November I’m getting concerned.

I have an iPhone 16 Pro w/iOS 26 and it usually takes 2-5 attempts to get WiFi syncing working each time I try it. Either it can’t connect to pocket’s WiFi or the sync will hang in the middle of pulling multiple conversations down (given the unreliability, I sync once a day… usually 2-4 meetings at once). I have made the 0.0.0.0 DNS change, that’s not the issue.

What’s worse, is when it does hang it basically locks the pocket up. You have to hold the power button for 15+ seconds (longer than the normal power off sequence) to get the device to power off… and then start the whole process over trying to get it to connect.

Syncing really seems to choke on longer meetings (45+ minutes in length).

Are there improvements in the works? I see direct WiFi connections to routers is under testing. Hopefully that’s more reliable?

Hey, really sorry about the experience.

A quick thing to double-check on iOS: Pocket needs both Local Network and Location permissions to connect to its Wi-Fi. iOS sometimes breaks these after updates, and toggling them off/on in Settings can help.

And yes, direct Wi-Fi connection to the router is also in progress. We will post updates about it soon.

thanks for the reply, it has both

Hey, I have the same issues. I have checked all the settings and toggled them on and off like instructed. Syncing recordings is such a painful experience haha! Also just when I get it to automatically sync, then I will need to leave the app for something else and then it will no longer sync. They did release the USB syncing, but I have not attempted that yet. I just want it to work as intended.

Thanks for reporting this! We’ve identified a bug and hope to have a fix out this week!

Do we know timing of the bug release. Same issue as everyone above? Thanks

hey! New firmwares are under final testing we are just making sure there are no more issues before we roll it out!

I can’t get the WiFi transfer to work at all. Just did the WiFi update (couple days ago), and the settings are set to allow location always and local network access. After quite a while of waiting, it does seem to connect but transfer rate is painfully slow (about a percent or two a minute), even with small files. I am running through an iphone 16pro with iOS 26.3. I am updating to beta 26.4.1 today. Perhaps I will have better luck with that. This one issue (the regular transfers take forever as well) makes the device MUCH less useful to me.

This is ridiculous… I’m getting very frustrated now. I get better speeds over bluetooth than WiFi (when WiFi even bothers to connect and start start syncing). I’m on FW 1.3.3 and WiFi FW 1.7. Any chance this gets resolved soon, @mhirrrr ?

Hey @ctash DMed you to get this resolved quickly

I’ve had my Pocket for about 3 weeks. It worked the day I set it up but has not synced since. I am soooo frustrated. have wasted hours and hours trying to fix, but it is so user hostile. Really wanted to love it, but simply cannot access anything and need to for work - emailing for help is slow and results in inaccessible answers. Even just trying to connect to wifi is so hard to understand - it just says it is connected to V7 firmware, but there is no option to choose a network. Syncing simply doesn’t work - been trying for days. Does anyone know how to explain this device simply???

Hello,

Sorry to hear that. Can we get on a quick call to address it?
We’ve had issues with Wifi sync on some devices.

Incase it turns out to be a hardware issue, we will promptly replace it for you. If it’s anything software related, I’ll be happy to check it for you.

sending you more details over DM

FWIW - my call wasn’t that helpful. Syncing randomly worked that morning, but stopped again later in the day. It’s really problematic with long running sync jobs, it seems like when iOS pops up the “hey there’s no internet access on this wifi connection, do you want to keep using it or switch to cellular” everything hangs (even if you say “stay on wifi”).

I really think the fix is to get that direct wifi syncing from Pocket > internet feature rolled out. Pocket > wifi to iOS > internet is too sketchy.

hey @ctash we hear you it’s currently under active development and should released soon will hit you up as soon as we are running a beta on it.

Meanwhile if you have a lot of files I would suggest web sync on chrome as it is almost instantaneous to get your files synced
