Curious about the side button responsiveness

First, a big compliment to your team on how simple and intuitive the Pocket AI is. I love that it takes one press to start and one press to stop recording, and the vibration feedback is perfect. You feel it once when recording begins and twice when it stops, which makes it easy to use without even looking at the device.

I have noticed that sometimes the side button does not respond right away. The blue light on the front stays on, so it is clearly connected, but at times I have to press the button several times before it records. Other times I double press it, which shows the battery life, and then I can record. It feels like the device might go into a light sleep mode even though the blue light stays on.

I would love to understand how that works. Is there a way to tell when it is sleeping or to keep it awake when connected? Since I often record meetings and thoughts without opening the app, it would be great to make sure the first press always starts recording.

@mhirrrr can you help me?

Perhaps this is why I’ve pressed record and then dictated for 5 mins only to turn my phone over and see the dreaded blue light, meaning I wasn’t recording.

Now I double check to make sure I see the yellow/amber light before talking.

yeah, that’s what I experience from time to time so I’m really hoping for some information to understand if the device goes into some sort of a sleep mode

Hey @vbrown2025 so a blue light means the device is switched on. Essentially a Single Click should stop the recording and Start the recording if this is not what you are noticing please email us at hey@heypocket.com will get it checked

The same thing happened to me today, first day using it. It was paired and charged, I double checked. Found out it wasn’t recording after my first attempt. After several more calls and conversation attempts, I tried to use the app. It would record for up to 10 seconds, and then stop.

I tried this several times on my attempts to record, and also tried using the buttons on the device.

Reason I switched from the device to the app initially was because I experienced the same “lag” with the button, thought maybe it was stuck or broken for the time being. :man_shrugging:

Same here. With blue light, single press usually starts recording, not always.

While recording (amber light), press… nothing. Try again, nothing. Several tries, eventually I can stop the recording.

Issue: The other day, thought I had stopped recording, but it kept recording for 12 hours. While the recording device is very useful, it’s real bad if it’s recording at times we believe it’s off.

I have found that there is quickness to the button pressing. If you try to press it once, but fast and firm, and wait a second then you will feel the vibration to indicate it has started to record. If you are impatient and press a second time thinking it hasn’t started then you will inadvertently be stopping what you started with the first click.
