Just got my pocket two days ago, recorded a couple of conversations and the iOS app told me there’s a new software update for the device. When I click update the app tells me the update is done, but the purple light on the pocket device just keeps flashing. I’ve tried doing this update 3 times now and the same thing happens each time.
Luckily the device isn’t bricked. I force close the app, and retry the update, let it sit for a while and then I get a blue LED on the device again. Not sure how to get the device updated successfully, please help!
Welcome to the community! Firmware updates are transferred over Bluetooth, so they require a stable Bluetooth connection. If the update keeps failing, please try restarting both the Pocket app and your Pocket device, then keep the device close to your phone while running the update again.
I restarted both the app and the device, tried the update again. The app says “Firmware update completed successfully”, but the device’s LED is still flashing purple. The app reconnected to the device and the “Pocket Device software update” popup comes back up and asks me if I want to update the firmware again. The device LED is flashing purple this whole time.
Hi @lippington, once the firmware update completes, the device should reboot. The update prompt may be appearing again due to an app bug. Please restart the Pocket app, then check whether the update prompt still appears.
Ok I clicked ‘Update Now’ to try it again and let it run. Eventually the LED turned Blue again and the app said “update failed, please restart app and device to try again”. After restarting both the update worked properly and I’m on v1.6 now. Thanks for your help!
