I get it stuff happens. Typhoons are not planned. Hong Kong National Day is a known event. The typhoon impacted my ops in region as well. A known holiday did not. Seems the goal posts are moving here. Ships September 28th, changed to first come first served, changed to ships in batches, changed to end of October.
Transparency? Aren’t these all updates? I’m confused here.
While i’m not a Product Manager for Pocket -I am a Product Manager.
I really don’t see what you’re seeing here.
Moving goal posts?
Every milestone has been communicated, every delay has been communicated with resolution.
What am I missing?
I’ve worked in product fulfillment for over 20 years, so I can differentiate between legitimate delays and shifting goal posts.
This particular case began with an assured ship date of September 28th, supported by photos, videos, and celebratory messaging that stated: “We’re on time. The boxes are stacked. And it’s a beautiful sight.” That communication clearly conveyed that all orders from this launch were packaged and ready to ship.
Then, on September 29th—after the missed milestone—I received a new notice that said “the first shipments are out.” That update didn’t acknowledge an over-promise or misstep, but instead implied that shipping everything on September 28th was never actually the plan, despite what the earlier message suggested.
Following that came an even vaguer message citing “production delays” and stating that “once production completes” orders will hopefully ship by the end of October.
I hope I’m wrong, but based on this pattern, I fully expect to see more of these types of updates and additional delays before I receive the product I pre-ordered and paid for in full. At this point, I believe greater transparency into the actual state of production and fulfillment is warranted.
Sounds like high level updates to me
I don’t need to be in the weeds on it.
I could understand your emotional reaction to the marketing updates based on your experience.
BUT in my experience of over 25 years, unless we’re talking a 60 day miss this is BAU.
Hey man, in fairness to myself I see this all the time.
From ideation to fulfillment to obsolescence.
Multiple portfolios and product lines.
You being in fulfillment, thats the end of the run for a guy like me on a new product launch.
So I understand your view with your background.
That said, I can see it through your glasses, but can you see it from mine?
Bottom line: The Pocket Crew has some eager folks. We’ve been here for the ride, and if the crew is meticulous as they have shown to be; this is going to be worth the wait. Otherwise, it would ruin their brand image out of the gate.
I was very interested in this product as a concept, but the promise of shipping in late September sold me. After ordering, I received a notification that mine would be shipping on September 28. That date came and went with no tracking information and I then saw the shipping updates in the community. I expect my order should have shipped, because that’s what they told me. But I have no idea if it has or not because I have received no tracking.
@03-orchid.evaders We began shipping on September 28, but weren’t able to get every unit out right away.

We are past a 60 day miss
Wow … my original message seems to be deleted. That isn’t transparency.
I have delivered my products than I care to remember. We are starting to see the trend here and the excitement has turned to remorse. You can all call it what you want and spin it whichever way you think. But the reality is that you are already losing confidence and credibility. You should have known how many units would be created, set expectations of shipping that included during a Taiwan Typhoon around 2002. We factored all that in.
Currently, I see Pocket as someone that thinks hype is better than reality. I am super hopeful that you will turn this around and deliver. Even the excuses of the app are noted and stand out.
@Beachsideca It looks like the post may have been automatically flagged by the AI moderation system. You’re absolutely welcome to share your feedback - we just ask that it’s done respectfully and constructively.
We genuinely appreciate everyone’s input and want to keep discussions open, helpful, and productive for all members. Pocket’s never been about hype but building something that lasts. We’ll earn that confidence back through delivery, not words.
I appreciate the explanation. I truly hope to be converted back to excitement.
Has anyone received verifiable tracking information? I was sent a tracking number that 7 days later the USPS website reads:
*********
Tracking Not Available
Tracking is not available for this item. This may be because the tracking number is invalid; USPS has not yet received payment; USPS has not yet received the item; the item does not include tracking; or other reasons.
*********
Pocket originally advised my order was shipping on 9/28. They sent an email on 9/29 stating it shipped that day and provided a tracking number. I’m would like to know if shipments that were sent on 9/28 have verifiable tracking information available.
It’s been answered a lot
Pete answered it in this thread about 4 replies up from this

I know they posted. And they said tracking information would be available 7-8 days after an item was shipped. Today is the 8th day for items that were shipped on the first day. So I’m asking if any customers have been able to verify the tracking information that was provided. It has been pointed out by others how no customers can actually verify the items have been shipped.
My order supposedly was shipped on 9/29 before the week long holiday, so Akshay’s post regarding delays do to the holiday are not applicable to my order. Nor would I’d be applicable to those that were supposedly shipped on 9/28.
If you read the post that they created, Oct 7th is the last day of the holiday in Hong Kong. If you explore the forum we’re on I got a USPS tracking number, but when I check it online it says “invalid” or doesn’t show any updates. Did something go wrong with my order? - #15 by rjb617 one user said that his tracking has updated and he’ll get his shortly. So some tracking has been updated according to the users posting. But my personal tracking number hasn’t yet. I’m not going to “worry" about it per se unless my tracking number doesn’t update until Friday. With that said I’m choosing to relax about it. Worse comes to worse I don’t get my device for some reason
not the end of the world. I’m choosing to be realistic that shopping from another country can take 4 weeks. And stuff happens. Pocket gave us an estimate of 8 days to reach the country then whatever port to my door so 10 business day estimate. My best date is gonna be the 15thish in my mind. So there’s plenty of time.
@Rollocks When the holiday ends, thing will gradually start returning to normal - workers come back, operations resume and the backlog begins to clear.
If your order shows a shipping date of September 29, that means it was dispatched that day and handed over to the courier. However, since parcels haven’t yet arrived in the U.S., it indicates they’re still in the courier’s possession, awaiting movement.
We had hoped these shipments would move faster, but this delay is unfortunately part of the reality of this holiday period. The information Akshay shared applies to all orders dispatched just before the holiday began. If you received your tracking information. Your order is on its way.
@Nex Thank you so much for chiming in and helping other members.
I can understand both sides but that doesn’t mean I’m not still incredibly disappointed overall. I pre-ordered a product that was supposed to ship in August. It’s now October.
Akshay posted last week that the holiday delay did NOT apply to my order. My order was already “in motion.”. Today is the 8th day, so hopefully the tracking update got the USPS.
We’re working with our logistics partners, I’m literally grilling them 24/7 on your behalf. All I can say is: we built something great for everyone here. This is the start of a long journey for all of us, and a huge movement is being made. I’m genuinely glad you’re part of it.
Trust me, I check my Amazon orders every day too, and I get pissed when they’re late. But this is a brand new product, so please excuse the rough edges as we get through the early bumps.
Any chance there is any good news about those that shipped before the holiday? Did they get moved through the system before the start of the holiday, or are all of our packages stuck in Hong Kong for the next few days yet? Also, the Golden Week holiday in Mainland China is Oct 1-8, not 1-7. Normal operations will resume on the 9th, not the 8th. I think I saw that misstated several times in various forums.
